The new radio station WAPI at Birmingham will be located on a mountain overlooking the village of Sandusky, about seven miles from the center of the business district of Birmingham.

Of all the prospective locations considthis one is preferred by radio ered engineers and also by officials of the Alabama Polytechnic Institute according to announcement made by Dr. Bradford Knapp. In deciding upon the location the of soil and other factors had type to be taken into consideration, elevation being an important factor. The elevation of the site is about 740 feet. It presents an excellent view of a large part of Birmingham.

The distance between the location and the residence or business section is said to be adequate for the approval of the federal radio commission at Washington. The land upon which the station will be located is now owned by the Tennessee Coal, Iron and Railway Company but is being bought outright by the extension service of the Alabama PoPlytechnic Institute. The deed will call for 7 1-2 acres of land to provide ample space for the station. The ground system will require an area 400 by 600 feet. 693 J. F. POSEY, Judge of Probate. WINGARD MAY GO TO PHILADELPHIA TEAM -0 A news item appearing in the Wisconsin News says among other things in regard to Milwaukee's baseball team: "While there has been no official announcement to that effect, we understand that Ernie Wingard, the willowy gent from Alabama, is going back to the big show next year. Connie Mack, now happily engaged in snatching the pennant away from Miller Huggins, will acquire the side wheeler.

Press of business on the flag trail no doubt has delayed negotiations, but with the deadline set for Sept. 15th, Mack will have to pause a moment to bind the tape around the best hander in the league. "Wingard as the outsatnding player on the Brewer roster will command a fancy figure for Mack. In many ways he is a second Orwoll, although not quite as versa-1 tile. Still as a pitcher he hag a finer repertoire than the 'Blond Ghost' although not quite as fast.

In a batting way he approaches the former Brewer now starring for Mack, while as a distance clubber he does not have to bow to any man in the league. "Then there is his fielding. Ernie whips those hands about at lightning speed and is all over the as valuable to the Macks ag he was to the Brewers. To date he has won twenty two and lost nine for Milwaukee which attests his worth." STOP SIGNS SHOULD BE OBEYED BY DRIVERS Big "Stop" signs are seen in many places in Autauga county where the danger is such that the Alabama Highway law requires the driver of any vehicle to come to a halt. More attention should be paid to these signs by the travelling public.
