Linda Greene, a financial aid secretary at the school, was among a handful of people who greeted McClammy when he arrived at the school.

Greene said she would like to see McClammy return to the school. "Dr. McClammy is the kind of person who cares about everybody," Greene said. "He really cares about the students." The state attorney general's office is seeking to force McClammy to repay $438,000 it claims the state lost in a contractor's loan that had not been approved by the state. In 1995, former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, now a U.S.

senator, sued McClammy in Montgomery Circuit Court to recover the money. The case is scheduled to go to trial this summer. Davis said Thursday that Pryor is trying to get McClammy to pay the money in exchange for being allowed to go back to work. He accused Pryor of using "strong arm tactics' in an attempt to get McClammy to consent because the attorney general's office has "a weak McClammy will not yield to those demands, Davis said. "We want to say Mr.

Pryor, there will be no deal, and Dr. McClammy will get his job back," Davis said. Chief Deputy Attorney General Richard Allen said the attorney general's office had 1 nothing do with whether McClammy is rehired. SCHOOL from Page 1C "The course was extremely interesting. It gives you so much background into the sheriff's department and you learn so much.

It is something everyone can enjoy," she said. Men and women ranging in age from 19 to 72 received once-a-week classroom instruction on topics like criminal laws, search and seizure laws, department investigations and officer safety. The graduates received completion certificates and were certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Jones hopes the next class can accomplish as much as the previous one did. "The first class was very productive and I hope the next class will be just as successful.

Montgomery County citizens will learn more about the sheriff's office, our duties and crime prevention tips," he said. The department views the academy as a service that promotes safety by keeping the public informed about laws and how they are enforced, according to a news release..
