Linda Greene, a financial aid secretary at the school, was among a handful of people who greeted McClammy when he arrived at the school. Greene said she would like to see McClammy return to the school. "Dr. McClammy is the kind of person who cares about everybody," Greene said. "He really cares about the students." The state attorney general's office is seeking to force McClammy to repay $438,000 it claims the state lost in a contractor's loan that had not been approved by the state.

In 1995, former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, now a U.S. senator, sued McClammy in Montgomery Circuit Court to recover the money. The case is scheduled to go to trial this summer. Davis said Thursday that Pryor is trying to get McClammy to pay the money in exchange for being allowed to go back to work. He accused Pryor of using "strong-arm tactics' in an attempt to get McClammy to consent because the attorney general's office has "a weak case." McClammy will not yield to those demands, Davis said.
