Two policemen on routine patrol spotted the man standing on the edge r. of the Clayton Street overpass late Saturday afternoon, said Montgom- ery Police Lt. R.T. Ward.

.1: Ward did not know the man's name, but City Jail officials fied him as 28-year-old Terry Reece. Reece refused to give his address to police. The man threatened to jump and became violent when officers D.R. Warke and J. McBride stopped to assist him, Ward said.

Reece was leaning back against the about 8- feet-tall fence, and they handcuffed him spread-eagle against it, he said. t- "The two police officers had to go Iwhalfway over the fence" to subdue Reece, Ward said. Four police officers and two fire-jmen tied Reece up with rope and w. lowered him about 30 feet down onto blocked lane of traffic, Ward said. Reece was charged with disorderly conduct in the incident and was being held at the City Jail at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, jailer Leroy M.

Vason said. Reece was also charged with an earlier warrant for disorderly conduct, Vason said. In other police matters, a Montgomery man was arrested Friday and charged with the illegal possession of drugs after police allegedly found him with 63 grams of marijuana, according to police records. Ronald Lee Rivers, 33, 3203 Fairway Drive, was arrested by police Cpl. P.A.

Reynolds at 6:20 p.m. Friday on Adams Avenue, records show. Rivers was released Friday on bond from the Montgomery County Detention Facility, jail officials said. She underwent the surgery July 23 in the hopes of remaining alive. She complains of soreness, Ruff said of his wife, but added she is "walking more and more each day and breathing all on her own." One day she will be able to play golf, a sport "she loves," as well as take nature walks, he added.

The husband, Ruff who suffers from poor circulation in his left leg as the result of a World War II wound, said he loves to play golf too but thinks his wife will beat him to the greens. Wetumpka were injured, he said. The Hanks, Kings and Buldsworth were treated and released from Central Alabama Community Hospital in Clanton, an emergency room staff person said. IN A SEPARATE accident, two Prattville women were injured when their car collided with a motor home about 11 a.m. Saturday at the U.S.

31 exit of 1-65 in Autauga County, Bur-' dick said. Beatrice Alexander, 73, and Fanny DeRamus, 77, were treated and released from Autauga Medical Center, according to a nursing supervisor. Sept.5,4,12,13, 117 610337 I Linn By ISHMAEL AHMAD Advertiser Staff Writer PRATTVILLE An active future appears likely for Patsy Ruff as she prepares to come home next month, her husband, Roy, said. "She's progressing and is in good shape," he said Friday. "Of course, she's about a week ahead of schedule." Ruff said his wife left Toronto General Hospital about one week ago, some six weeks following a rare double-lung transplant. She is expected to return to Prattville by Oct. 20.

Her release from the hospital, he said, was about a week ahead of schedule. Until she leaves Canada, Mrs. Ruff will return to the hospital three times a week for rehabilitation, he said. Mrs. Ruff, 43, suffers from chro--nic obstructive pulmonary disease, a rpotentially fatal form of emphysema.

Sept. 13, 1987 Verbena man injured in rainstorm wreck By JOHN JACKSON Journal Staff Writer A Verbena man was in guarded condition Saturday night after being involved in two of several accidents on Interstate 65 during morning rainstorms, officials said. Tommy Lee Patton, 55, was in guarded condition at 6:15 p.m. Saturday in University Hospital in Birmingham after his pickup slid out of control and collided with a tractor-trailer cab as he drove onto 1-65 from Clanton, said Clanton Police Officer Glenn Baker.

WITNESSES SAID the collision sent Patton's truck across the median into the northbound lanes, causing another accident when motorists slammed on their brakes to avoid the truck, Baker said. Lawrence J. Hanks hit his brakes and was struck from behind by a ve hicle driven by Alfreda M. Gulley of Bay Minette, Baker said. Hanks and Diane Hanks were injured in the accident, he said.
