8A WEDNESDAY, MAY 9, 2012 PROGRESS All-state band Dance champ On April 12-14, Natalie Pace and Abigail Pace of Prattville, members of the River Region Homeschool Band directed by Ted Mann, participated in the Alabama Bandmasters Association All-State Band Festival in Mobile, along with middle and high schoolers from around the state. As a seventh-grader, Abigail placed 8th chair flute in the All-State Middle School Band, and her sister, Natalie, a sophomore, had the honor of placing first chair oboe in the All-State High School Red Band, the highest band in the state. Congratulations ladies! contributed Carmella Clarke, a student at Mann Dance Studio recently took first place overall in the duetsolo category at the Alabama State Dance Championship in Bessemer. She also won a first place photogenic award at the 2012 VIP Dance Regional in Pensacola. Carmella is the daughter of Thomas and Theresa Clarke of Prattville.
